You may be wondering what all the super cool icons mean that are attached to some of the user profiles. You can accrue these badges and ranks as you start participating in the community. While we are not going to share the secret sauce on the exact way to obtain our ranks and badges, we did want to give you a little insider information on how to start earning them.
What is a badge?

Badges are automatically awarded to community members when they pass a certain set of conditions, such as asking a question or replying to a discussion. The more you interact, the more detailed your badges get.

How are points and ranks earned? 
A rank is a system of progression obtained by the amount of points you earn when participating in multiple aspects of the community. While badges are obtained by one certain action, ranks can only be earned by increasing the amount of points you acquire when performing multiple combined actions, such as answering multiple questions plus posting discussions. The more you interact and gain points, the higher your rank.
