I had a user bring in her MacBook Air, says it won't turn on. She says that it was a possible liquid spill. I open the laptop and I state it smells like wine, she quips back, that's champagne honey, I aint no cheap date. I said, well this is going to get real expensive, as the laptop was a total loss, along with her files, that she stored on her desktop (instead of unlimited cloud storage) 🤦🏻

That is just one of many we have had.

I dropped it. I asked where? The Grand Canyon? They actually left it on top of their car.

@Cozmo03 thank you for the laugh this morning, but oh man, the fact that she stored all of her files on the desktop? Sheesh!

Mom confirmed, actually did happen. They left it on floor and came back to Rover doing his business.

@CLamb As someone whose dog would absolutely do that, they should store it not on the floor next time!! 😆

Here’s another one. It was a year that we got brand new MacBooks. We spent all summer opening boxes, bar coding, labeling, alphabetizing (those are long summers) getting the devices ready. We have 4 high schools, we are at the 1st high school, and we are early on in the handing out process for the day, the students are supposed to pick up their laptop and then sit in the bleachers to login. One student grabs their laptop and starts up the steps of the bleachers. About 7 steps up, (why did they walk that far up, when all they seats below were empty? Good question!) the student drops their laptop and bounces down the stairs and slowly rotates down each step as each corner bounces off the steps and continues down. I swear time stopped. The whole gym stops and turns and we all just watch in horror! It gets to the gym floor, it sounds terrible as it echos over the hushed crowd. I am not sure there has been a gym so quiet with so many people in it. They all just stare at the laptop owner with the look of “how did you even manage that?” So for this instance, there was no excuse. 400 people saw this happen.

All 4 corners of the laptop were dented, the screen was in tact, so we said to the student, sorry its checked out to you. You get to keep it. They were not happy, but we didn’t really care.
