Due to tight budgets and a slow rollover of devices to maximize our remaining AppleCare term we’ve needed to temporarily remove a number of devices from JAMF until such time as they’re put back in service.  Essentially replacing broken devices through the year then final swap next summer. But this has broken our JAMF sync.  So is there an easy way to remove the JAMF sync from those select devices temporarily until they re-appear in JAMF?    They’re not retired, they’re in storage…

Or a way to get IIQ to ignore a larger number of Sync errors?

Are the devices deleted in Jamf? If so, I think you can have iiQ delete them. Or, do you want them to stay in iiQ to keep the history?

No deleting assets, gotta keep accurate records.  These in particular are just temporarily removed from JAMF to reduce license usage.

Been mulling it over and hopefully someone has a proper solution. What I’d start with is creating a Custom Asset status (ie: removed from Jamf), and assigning all the devices that status. Doesn’t address the sync errors you’d see in Apps>Manage>Jamf though.

I went with a storage unit named ‘RM_JAMF’ to denote that it was removed from JAMF.  Since this should only be a one time thing, that we’re not going to repeat next year… 🙄

@SMacomber Thank you for submitting your question to our community! 😄

Great collaboration between you and @AMeyer Greendale Schools! I am glad you hear you came upon a solution!

Solution for noting the devices in question causing the core issue,  but not a solution to the core issue, failed JAMF sync.

@SMacomber If that is the case, I would suggest submitting a ticket to our support team. They will be able to dig into the back end of your Jamf syncs.

Already done!   I only started here to see if anyone already had a solution.  I’ll report back if the support team has a universal method for accomplishing this,  in case any other districts are in the same boat as us.
