We would like “staff” to be able to lookup a student and see which asset in particular is assigned. Currently when staff looks up a student they can see that the student has one or more devices but not the asset ID.  Which permission allows the asset ID to be exposed?

I had a ticket in a couple of weeks ago asking about this same issue. I was told Staff level users can’t view the assign assets widget on the flyout.  If you use User Explorer and pull a student up from there the Assign Asset Widget does display.  This is adding a step but it does provide the view you want.  We are using this view primarily for our assistants, not for the general staff, and will be incorporated into our training next week.

@jeremyjameson Thank you for submitting your question to our community! 😄

They will need to have view asset permission enabled to see devices. I hope this helps!

Thank you for the response.  That is already enabled and staff are not able to see asset ids assigned to students, only that they have asset(s).

What they see.

vs what we want them to see

@jeremyjameson Can you give me an example user to test with so I can see what they are seeing. 😄

@AJennings 2039489 daretolearn Thank you!, This will buy us some time but there is no reason that is should flyout in some cases and not others.  We can send training out for the start of school.  Thank you!

@AJennings 2039489 daretolearn Were you able to limit lookup to users assigned location?  We added the filter but it doesn’t seem to have an effect...

I haven’t tried to do that in any of our permissions filters. We have ~5000 students in our district across 10 locations and because of siblings accidentally taking each other’s chargers and whatnot we decided not to limit view by location.

@jeremyjameson So I was digging into this issue and @AJennings 2039489 daretolearn is correct on the flyout. They are working to pull apart these baked-in permissions per role.

As for the location, that filter should be working for you. I will see if there are any additional reports on it and if so I will add your name to the internal ticket.
