Hello,

I’m new to the software, we currently just have the Asset module and I’ve been working on getting things setup.

I know there was a discussion about how others setup cart environments but I wanted to follow up a little and ask a new off topic question.

Currently I’m trying the “create a room” named my mobile cart and adding the Chromebooks, linking them to the physical cart which we have in the system as well.

It looks great showing the list of 36 devices but we have them numbered and I was wondering if there is an easy way to look in a list view that can show a device name or custom field?

I tried putting the device # under the Room which was called ‘specific location’ I’m not able to see that on my searches, to see which number each device is, I need to click on one and go into the device details.

Reason this is needed is for our library that checks out our loaner computers, they are numbered and when one is not returned we disable them.  The library will let me know that #5 needs to be disabled and without knowing the exact serial number I believe i would have to click on each device to find #5.

Hope this all makes sense, loving the software so far,

Thanks, Frank

@FGonzales 4306de6 pausd Thank you for submitting your question to our community!

When you filter the devices, do you have the view set up by the room as a custom view? If so, you could add a “- 1” or “- 2” to the end of those asset tags to identify the number in which they are!

Are there any other suggestions from the community?

Thank you @Kathryn Carter in playing with it more I ended up adding the device number as a note and pushing it back to Google.

Then I created a custom view with the notes visible and it has made the look i was looking for...

@FGonzales 4306de6 pausd I love that way of doing it as well! I love how our system is able to work for so many people and their different workflows. 😄

I was going to say, we set up an additional Custom Field for “Cart Slot Number” since our middle schools have a similar issue as the librarian in this example since they have multiple different classes during the day.

FWIW we made a custom asset status called “Cart Assigned”. and then in the Specific Location field we put the computer number (A27, B14, etc)

Thanks for sharing what you do @TAnders and @bclark I love hearing all the different ways to set these up!

Actually in talking this through in the open hours today i forgot that I went away from the notes.  I had it that way to go back in to Google Admin and look the name up there, but with iiQ we will not really be going back into Admin much, so i created a custom field.  Named it Device Name, add the numbers onto that field and in my Views added that field.  Works out great.

Thanks for the hour today, i’ll be around more often, see you all at the next one.

@FGonzales 4306de6 pausd So glad to have you on there! Looking forward to reading and hearing about your future workflows 😄

Love this idea! Great work. We created a custom Field called Special Notes so that we could search for them, it looks like it will work out well. Thanks!
