We have a user that has repeatedly broken our rules and is at this point no longer allowed to have a device.  Is there a way to make it so that no one can assign a device to his account?  Can I disable his account but still keep the history in the event that we decide that he can have a device again?

Hi @DLosavio 26348a2 catholichigh ! There is not a way to stop an asset assignment from an individual user however, I think I found a work around.

Under Admin → Rules you can set up the following rule:

Make sure you are using the Asset option in the top left, not ticketing. I tested it and I attempted to check out a device to ‘Test Student’ as specified in the filters I set, and it allowed me to check the device out, but immediately checked it back in. (timeline shown below).

Let me know if this is what you were looking to achieve!

Melissa,

This is helpful but not quite what I need.  I am looking for a way to not let the system assign the device at all.  With your work around the user would still be able to receive the device.  I will find a solution on my end, I was just checking to see if we could do it in IIQ.

Thank you so much

I like this idea except I might try send an email if anything gets checked out so that at least we could have someone at the school follow up with the student to retrieve the device they were not supposed to have been assigned.

What I might do is create a rule that disables a device if it’s checked out to this student. Doesn’t stop the checkout but at least prevents use of the device. I like the suggestion of sending an email as well.

Sounds like you need an alert like I see in our library system if a student has too many books checked out, etc.

@angiejaeger @AMeyer Greendale Schools love those ideas as well!

@DLosavio 26348a2 catholichigh I am not aware of a way for iiQ to allow blocking users from having a device assigned to them. I would definitely mention this as an enhancement in our idea exchange! I can upvote it as well.
