So this is a bit Tricky.  I currently have rules setup in IIQ to Enable a device in Google if the status is set to In-Service or In-Storage, and to Disable a device if set to Lost, Stole, or Missing.

I also need IIQ device status set to Missing when a device is set to disabled (button pressed), and to “In Service” if the Re-Enable Device button is pressed.

I set up the rule “When Updated” When “Google Status = Disabled” set Status to “Missing”

When I press “Disable Device”, it stays “In Service”.  From this point, if I press “Enable Device” the device re-enables but then the IIQ Status goes to Missing.  It’s almost as if it’s doing this reverse and I’m unsure of how to set this without messing stuff up.

I’m disabling all other rules before hand to make sure that nothing else is triggering this.  Any Help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hey @AAllred 16080dc aaps, you should be able to establish how a Google Device asset’s status changes in iiQ with the configuration settings in the Google Devices app. In the Google Devices app under the ‘General Settings’ tab, the top Mapping section will allow you to establish what statuses corresponds to the Google Admin status.

Right now, you have Deleted and Deprovisioned configured, but not Disabled or Active. I think setting the status for these additional conditions might resolve this issue for you.

Here’s our documentation on that workflow:

Hi Justin,

Thank you for responding so quickly.  The problem we have 3 different statuses when a device is disabled.  I’m concerned that if we set these statuses in the Apps Interface for Google, that each night our sync will flip any “Lost” or “Stolen” devices to Missing in IIQ if we set that status to Missing. We would like IIQ to keep its status if it’s one of these other 2 statuses.  Is there a way to work around this?

Thank you for the clarification. That can be tricky and this configuration setting would apply one status unfortunately so this my not help with your workflow. You may be able to utilize the Google filter options for your rules and then set the status through asset updates.

For the specific workflow, you may need to put in a support ticket so that we could get specific sample assets and review the logic being applied.

We have a nearly identical setup. The trick is to ONLY change the iiQ status and let your rules do the rest.

For us, we have 3 statuses in iiQ that should equate to disabling in Google. As long as we use the “Change Status” option this works just fine. We do not use the Enable/Disable button in iiQ for Chromebooks.

We have an identical rule for the other statuses as well to disable. They could all be one rule, but I separated them as we were testing to make sure they worked.

Another thing you could do to catch the outliers is to create a scheduled rule to run at the end of the day, hourly, etc as a “cleanup”.

As for the Google integration settings, we only set the status on creation, but we don’t update with every sync. This is where the “When Updated” asset rules take care of things for us. Everything gets created as “In Service”.

Thank you @JustinRaynor_iiQ and @jclark for your insight here! Love to see the teamwork between districts and iiQ staff!

All of you have been very helpful.  It would be great if we could have a trigger on when the disable and re-enable button for Google is used.  I’m unsure if this is possible.  As for now, we have agreed to use the method provided by jclark, using only the statuses instead of the buttons. This will allow us to have an easier workflow.  We will likely put an “On Schedule” rule in as well to help us clean up some of the devices.  Thank you again for your help everyone!
