Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find any information on what I am trying to accomplish. We are a one school school district and we have set up locations for the school and additional location for items we have retired and disposed of just to keep things separate. I wanted to see if we could give a user rights to only check in/out certain equipment within a location. It seems that the only way I can see to do this is create a separate location. To me that adds confusion as the devices are not really in a separate location but rather a sub location. Here is a scenario I am trying to accomplish.
Our special services department purchased some devices that they want to check out to their teachers aides when needed. If I give the department secretary the permissions to check items in and out she can see all items within a location when I only want her to see what items she needs to manage.
A similar situation would be in our Art Department where the teacher would want to check out digital cameras to students.
I thought maybe a sub location under the primary school could achieve that where the top level could see everything but the sub location could only see items in that sub location area.
Hope that makes sense.
If there is a way to achieve this with how IIQ is currently set up I would love to be pointed in the right direction.
From what I can see, you can’t limit Check-in/check-out by device model. That would be a cool enhancement!
A possible workaround could be to create departments as locations? We did that in my previous district for some specific ticketing categories. This ensured the agents for that department only saw those specific tickets.

I don’t want to have to create all these locations. We are one school. Separating things out like that could be confusing. Now creating departments or sub-locations under the primary would be a good enhancement. That way agents and IIQ admin can see the top tier and everything underneath it and then we can make a teacher or a secretary have access to just their department assets to check in and out.
I would suggest adding this to our Idea Exchange.
