Hello, new to the community and new to iiQ. My question is: we have iPads and Apple Pencils that we give to teachers. The pencil stays in a special cutout in the case so it always travels with the iPad. Is it a good idea to link assets - the iPad and pencil? We do have occasions where we may have to swap out the iPad or pencil for a defect and will linking them cause any problems with that?

Hi @ARCS Thank you for submitting your question.

Personally, linking the assets together if they will always be together would be helpful for me. I’ve tagged a few of our active members to see what they suggest.

@Cozmo03 @TAnders @Belcher.shane @mcsdwes  Do y’all have any suggestions?

If they are separate assets, linking the two together would be our best practice. Just like a Chromebook Cart with Chromebooks linked to it. It will give you better tracking and inventory, if one gets damaged you can unlink it and make a note of why, then link the replacement to it.

I agree with @TAnders linking the two assets together would be the best route to take.

Thank you @TAnders and @mcsdwes for your replies and advice!

Luckily we do not use Apple Pencils, I can’t imagine the hassle of tracking those. We have a hard enough  time with power cords and cubes. I would do what others have suggested. Link them together like a cart and a cart computer.

Good luck with the start of your year, ours has been crazy hectic but we are making it through.

@Cozmo03 Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts 😄

@ARCS I hope you enjoyed hearing the different perspectives! Did you decide to link your devices?

Thank you everyone. I am doing a little experiment to see what works best for us. So half of them I have linked and the other half I have not. But thanks for your advice. Really appreciate it as I’m getting used to iiQ. Glad to have a community here to ask questions.
