When verifying devices from the desktop site we can choose to unassign them which is handy as it makes sure we did actually turn in the device properly. However, when using the mobile app, it wants you to set the assigned person and doesn’t appear to let you unassign it.

Am I doing something wrong? Can the mobile app verification process not ensure it is unassigned?

If that is correct, would this be an idea request or a bug?

@MattHenry Thank you for submitting your question.

There is no specific option for you to unassign via mobile. However, if you want this to always happen on the web and mobile, you can create a rule to accomplish this.

Type: Assets

Trigger: Checked in

Actions: Unassign Owner

I appreciate the potential workaround but unfortunately I don’t always want this to happen. Sometimes I may want to verify with an assignment and sometimes I want to verify as unassigned. It really depends on the situation.

I want to submit an idea titled “Feature parity for Mobile App” but I don’t know how to really write it up. There is just so much that the mobile app can’t do that you can do in the desktop site. Not sure if there is already an idea for that. But what I’d love is for a developer to have a list of all the features (The “I can” statements basically) for desktop and check if “I still can” when using the mobile app.

Also, I wish the app would register *.incidentiq.com as a link so clicking links from your email on android would open in the app instead of in a browser on your phone. Should this be an idea too or does it already exist?

@MattHenry On the Idea Exchange homepage, you can actually filter by Mobile App to see all the ideas tied to one product.

Additionally, you can also search and filter by topic type: Idea

Here is the idea about phone numbers within the mobile app:

There is not an idea about clicking the Incident IQ link.

@MattHenry Another great question that i had to go and test out.

When you are verifying multiple devices in mobile and you click on the “Update Asset Information > Owner” you should see the message “your current setting will unassign all assets.”

So if you leave that field blank it will unassign those assets. And if you do not select the Update Asset Information option it will keep the same assigned user.

I hope this helps.

Also, we have been doing some enhancements with the mobile app and more are coming.

Would really like to see all your thoughts and ideas in idea exchange. That is where our product team looks when planning on enhancements. 😁
