We have our teachers checkout/assign chromebooks during preplanning to their students. We have them navigate as follows:

My Classes

HR

Check Out Assets

When we do this, it doesn’t change the device’s status to ‘In Service’.

I would VERY much like to find a way that we could achieve this without having to give the teachers elevated rights. Any thoughts?

You can set a “Check-Out” rule, it will change the status anytime any device is checked out not just by that group of users, here is how I’m doing it …

It changes my status, assigned the location based on the user and pushes the data back to Google Admin, this way the user is sync’d there.  I also do lots of OU moves so the location part moves it in OUs if needed.

Thank you for setting me in the right direction on how to correct this! I am going to see how I can incorporate the Google pushes too. This was VERY helpful information!

There’s a couple posts on the forums about using iiQ to update OUs in Google. The pinned reply in my thread linked below has my setup :)
