Is there anyway to prevent serial numbers from being duplicated?

 

I feel like this shouldn’t be allowed by default but I’m not sure if I am missing a setting to prevent this.

Duplicate serial numbers are more difficult to track, but the asset tags should not be duplicated. 

Here are two ideas for you to comment on your use case 😄

 

Adding to this - we have several duplicate serial numbers in our Assets currently that we’re trying to manually clean up.   Is it possible to add functionality to Merge Assets and accept conflicts between the two records?  

Not allowing duplicate serial numbers to be entered or imported in the first place would avoid this issue. 

@JMims 6331bd6 shaker Thank you for providing your feedback. Currently, your best option is filtering by the duplicate asset tag and going through it manually. However, please leave your comments on those ideas as well so that our Product team will be able to track your feedback via ideas.
