What is the best way to know what assets were not returned at certain point? For example, right now, I’d like to know what assets that were checked out last school year to a student, were not returned as of today.

Also, if I look at the Timeline of a specific asset, I can see when that asset was assigned to a user, but I have not found a way to include that information as a Column or in an Export. Is that possible?

@LFinch 22718d3 ffc8 Thank you for submitting your question to our community! 😄

Have you looked at the owner changed filter? This will show devices whose owner has changed within your timeline 😄

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. Please let me know if I’m missing something, but here are the shortcomings I see with that filter.

  1. If the student never returned the device at the end of last school year, the owner of the device hasn’t changed.
  2. The view with that filter applied doesn’t display the date the owner changed.

This is really frustrating because the data is there, IIQ just hasn’t given us a way to export it. From the outside this seems like a bad design choice and such an easy fix/update.

@LFinch 22718d3 ffc8 I use a user view for this as I feel this is what works for me

We integrate with our SIS for students and within user view there is an option to filter for “SIS User Status” we combined that with “Has assigned device” and that should get you most of the way there.

here is a picture of how I have my user view

Thanks you.I have already run a report of all students and then filtered for students that have more than one device, but there’s no way for me to easily see when those devices were checked out to them to know device A was checked out last year, device B was checked out this year.

@LFinch 22718d3 ffc8 Is the goal between last year and this year because you recheck out a device each year or are you trying to identify students who are no longer enrolled and still have a device? Knowing what the data is used for may help find another way to the end result :)

@LFinch 22718d3 ffc8 If you would like to know when the device was checked out and be able to display that in assets you could utilize “Device Deployment Date” and set a rule to change the date to the current day on check out  and then on check in have it force set the day to something so ridiculous it isn’t captured in data results we use 1/1/2000 as our fake real date :)

Then just create a view to display what you want. While that doesn’t help you today it will get your the data for everything after the rule is in place 😁

Setting up these alternative dates with rules leads to bad data that we may want to use for another purpose. Frankly, I feel like IIQ relies too heavily on users in this forum finding clever workarounds instead of just developing the product at a faster rate.

Boiling down my need to the most basic explanation, I need this:

Show me the devices (tag, model) that are assigned to users and give me the date that those devices were checked out without having to look at each device timeline to see the date.

@LFinch 22718d3 ffc8 What your wanting does not natively exist but others in the community have suggested it and upvoted it.

Thank you for finding that. I see that it was suggested 2 years ago. That’s frustrating from a user standpoint. That thread is full of users finding all sorts of absolutely crazy workarounds. The data is already there, please give us a way to see it in a View.

Thank you both for your work and feedback here @BStead 367a84d nclack @LFinch 22718d3 ffc8
