Hi @jmayes ! Thank you for your question. Out of the box, Incident IQ does not have a way to manage non-serialized assets however, I do want to mention iiQ Resources - a brand new module that will solve the issue of these non serialized assets!
Here is a link to an overview of Resources, if your district were to be interested in this:
Aside from the Resources module, you would have two options:
- Serializing each individual accessory and linking said accessory to it’s appropriate asset (via linked assets)
- Adding the accessories as parts. Here is another community document with a work around another district had
I hope this is helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions!
In my previous district, our policy was clearly stated as: staff are provided with a laptop & power adapter. We did not track the power adapter/accessories in iiQ. A similar policy was in place for students, with the inclusion of a case being provided. We had tried using paper/google forms to track who got what, but we regularly forgot to enter a piece of data. Anyone who stated they had not received an item was informed of the policy & asked to look for the missing item.
@jmayes I am not sure if you saw this thread but this is a cool one to check out:
This could give you some ideas of what other districts are doing, at least towards the end of the school year.
Thank you for the information. My issue is with the staff…….smaller things like Apple pencils, hubs and even chargers that they do not return and say they never received. They are too small to have an asset tag so they aren’t linked.
@jmayes Something I have seen a lot of districts do is create like a “kit” where those items are all grouped together and then checked out to them. While it might not be a specific one asset, but a group of them so at least there is a record of them receiving those devices. Just a thought.
