I see how the Verifying Assets Through My Classes works, but I have a few questions. First, our secondary students are the ones that are 1:1 with the devices.  If we ask teachers to do a check, they only seem to see the results of the “audit”. The next teacher does not already see that it was verified and we as the technology team cannot see that the teacher has done the process?  Do I have a permissions set wrong somewhere?  The very very light green background (needs to be darker!) lets the teacher know at a glance they have already verified the student’s device, but no one else can tell that.

Reports?

Permissions?

What would be good for these Chromebooks would be that if we have Google Verification turned on, that the device shows it as Verified on that screen and if it shows Failed due to no logins or wrong logins, then it would show visibly so the teachers can know which students we really need them to talk to.

@TCunning 583467e pfisd Thank you for submitting your question to our community! 😄

I think I am confused on your questions here. Are you trying to figure out the permissions to see the verifications on the devices?

Maybe it is an enhancement request then…

We feel if one teacher verifies it at a high school, that the rest of the teachers should be able to easily see that so as a team, they can help track down the students who are not being verified or help those who failed.  This feature only seems to help that one class.. and not the campus as a whole.

I do think that me having the Google Sync resets it each day, so that may be a problem as well.

@TCunning 583467e pfisd Gotcha, so the MyClasses are going to be only for the room the teacher is assign to and those devices. If you would like them to see the other devices, they will need the view assets & details permission (you can add a location filter to this) so they can see the other devices that are not just the ones assigned to their room. This permission can be added to them as a team by location and you can always revoke it when they don’t need to see the details anymore.

Does that make sense? Does that help?

It would be nice if the “My Classes” page could include the last verification date/audit status. It just shows student name & the asset list. In order to see the verification info, the teachers would need to look up the device and/or have an asset view created based on something like… courses? Homeroom?

@AMeyer Greendale Schools Let’s get this submitted to our Idea Exchange! https://community.incidentiq.com/ideas

@Kathryn Carter Well, I got excited that that may have been it, but I already had that one and the Lists Assets turned on for staff.  I like @AMeyer Greendale Schools suggestion as well, if it can show it for any verification, not just their own. ;-)

Let us know what works best for you @TCunning 583467e pfisd 😄

Finally remembered to do this…

Audits are a team effort between campuses and technology department, especially with devices that move around. We have the audit feature working for us on all other items, except ipads, chromebooks, and staff laptops.  Really struggling.

@TCunning 583467e pfisd other than this “my classes” issue, what are you running into that doesn’t work with those items? I’ve got Chromebooks and iPads and might be able to help some.

@AMeyer Greendale Schools sorry for late reply.. end of year chaos ;-)

Schools want to verify their students Chromebooks. I have ran reports after reports showing them who is logged in and using another students device and to help with the accidental swaps of devices, but they want to check each student personally 3x a year.  This feature sounded like it would work for that, but it is just not working since they will not be doing this all on the exact same day.

I do have Chromebook Audit running and showing who is failing, but there is just not a bold way of teachers looking at My Classes and going, “Hey, your Chromebook failed, let me see it and let’s see if it is the right one.. “ ;-)

Sharing an asset view with the teachers could be helpful, but it’s another place to look and wouldn’t be easy to maintain long term, I think. Filtering the assets by owner homeroom could narrow the list, but then you’d be trying to keep up with which teacher is in which homeroom (yuck).

@AMeyer Greendale Schools ^^^ I was thinking the same thing with granting teachers access to a custom asset view. However, this adds another process and view for them to follow. 😳

Got my vote on having the verification on the MyClasses grid.

As a side note, you can grant teachers access to view the asset details page from the "My Classes" section. This allows them to check whether an asset is verified. However, they will need to click into the asset to see its verification status, as this information is not displayed directly on the "My Classes" page.

To grant your teachers access to view the asset details page, they have the appropriate permissions options enabled in their permission policy. Specifically, they will need the following two permissions: ‘View Asset List and Details’ and ‘View Assets Left Navigation.’ By assigning these permissions options, teachers will be able to access and manage asset information from the MyClasses page efficiently.
