@EStapf_iiQ I think the best advice I can pass on is to go to the IIQ OPEN OFFICE MEET UPS!!! Even if you don’t talk during it just listen. It’s a great resource to be able to ask your questions and have everyone chime in to help support you and hear other ideas and have a conversation with your peers. 😁
Don’t reinvent the wheel and let what others have done help you.
Love this question @EStapf_iiQ !
I have four things as a prior iiQ Customer at my district and now as an iiQ Employee:
- Attend all the Events-Open Office Hours, Webinars and Lunch and Learns.
- Spend the time to clean up your Issue Categories & Issue Types Right away-it’s harder to go back and make those changes later
- Leverage Custom Fields more for ticket customization
- Lean on your CSM - they have TONS of ideas, best practices, workflow suggestions and solutions. They’re there to help so use them!
Great idea @EStapf_iiQ !
Back when I used to work in a school district, I wish I had turned on write back to MDMs earlier. We were concerned doing this would somehow “break something”. It’s super powerful and helpful to not have to leave iiQ, log into the MDM, and then do the same thing you can do directly within iiQ.
Additionally, setting up OU writeback is a game changer. It saves so much administrative time for IT to have those set up. Setting this up right away is my suggestion to everyone that uses google devices! We had different device OUs for all student grades (different dashboards/apps pinned etc) and we were 1:1 for all students and kept “ownership” from year to year. Having the devices automatically move to the next OU based on when the student’s grade changes is amazing!!!
For me, it’s the Academy!! There is sooo much good information, workflows and tidbits you catch when completing the Agent and Admin Certifications. To this day, I’ll still follow along a learning path from the Academy when building something out in my site!
Subscribe to product updates! IIQ releases so many new features and it’s so beneficial to be notified of exciting new changes😁

My advice to my past self (and any new admins starting out in iiQ districts with multiple modules) is to not be intimidated by the Facilities module! it is very similar to working tickets in the IT Ticketing module. Also, taking time to read KB articles fully really helped me digest the material more fully than testing or rewatching recording s alone did.
