This is our first year with IncidentIQ and we have only had a couple instances of students breaking another students device.

I was curious how others create tickets for situations like this. Currently we have been opening two tickets, one with the requestor as the owner of the device. Then another with the requestor as the student that broke the device.

In my previous district, we just did the one ticket for the damaged device. We did not track the second student in iiQ. We viewed that as a school behavior issue to address. The student with the damaged device was expected to discuss the issue with the school administration.

If they didn’t have insurance, I would wait a week or so before adding any fees. The school admin would let us know if the fee would be added to the student who caused the damage or to the student responsible for the Chromebook.

The ticket for the damaged device would include a note/comment about which student had caused the damage (if we were informed of this).
