When I edit custom fields in the Events section, I see a number of fields with a lock icon on them (fields like “Name Your Event”, “Event Description” and “How many attendees do you expect?”) .  Is there any way for me to edit these fields (i.e. make one of the fields required)?

The locked custom fields that you see in the Event’s section come with the Event’s product. At this time there is no way to further modify them, however you can create any additional custom fields that you need to fit your use case.
