You can! When you hover over the follower in the ticket, you will get a remove button. 

Is there a permission for being able to remove these?  Our Agents used to be able to do this, but now when they hover and click the x, nothing happens.

@Jeff MacKinder There is a fix in development for this! I will update you once we know additional information for this! 

It looks like a fix was released this past weekend. Please let me know if you are still experiencing this.
