We would like our students to only create tickets for their own user account and their own location. Right now, we can only assign a policy to all students that gives them access to create tickets for all locations (and subsequently all users). I figure this can be done in two ways: Adding a feature to the current policy editor, or creating a new role based on a combination of their role and location.

Is there a way to limit the ticket submission so that students can’t submit tickets for other users or change the location?

Is there a way to assign a new role based on a combination of location and current role (i.e. student, staff, etc)?

Good Morning @Mike1

Thank you for submitting your question. I would suggest customizing the roles within “Permissions”. You can copy the “Global - Student Role” and save a new policy per location for the students. You can change the settings the students to only be able to submit tickets for their location only. I have put the guide below along with a screenshot if you need it.

@Kathryn Carter Thank you, but how do you assign the new custom policy to an entire campus or group?

@Mike1 If you head to the “Users Explorers” tab, you can filter by different roles and locations. Select all the students you want the policy to apply to. Then, you can hit “add permission policy and you can select from the ones you have created!

Let me know if this works for you :)

@Kathryn Carter How will that work with new students as they enroll and are automatically rostered into IIQ? If I understand correctly they will get the default student policy, not a custom policy based on their location and role. I don’t want to have to go assign a different policy every time a student enrolls or changes campuses.

Hey @Mike1 ,
Currently, students should not be able to submit tickets to other users. There is no setting that you have to enable for this.

The best solution for the location is to create a rule:

If role=student, set location=requestor's location

They will still be able to see that they can change the location in the breadcrumb trail. But once they submit the ticket it will change it to their (requestors) location.
