When a ‘Teacher’ creates a ticket, items assigned to them show as selectable, ie. Chromebook. Is there a way to make these selectable items appear if they match the Room Number assigned to the teacher?  Most technology stays in the room and the teachers move.  I understand that we could assign all the technology items, Newline Board, Newline OPS, Phone, Printers, projectors, etc. to the teacher but this would become cumbersome with the new school year moves.

Hello DJenkins,

Thank you for submitting your question to our community.

The devices assigned by room will not automatically popular in the selectable field like an assigned device.  However, the user can favorite the asset that is assigned to their room. This will allow the user to see the device as a selectable item.

Option 1 - If the device is assigned to the room the requestor can search by room if they have the permission “List Assets”. To do this they will start by opening a new ticket, select “Devices and Hardware”, drop down the search box and select “Room #” and search for their room number. They will click the star next to each asset they would like to see as a selectable item when opening a ticket.

Option 2 - On the left hand navigation bar, click “My Assets”. They will click the star next to each asset they would like to favorite under “Assets in rooms you’re associated with”.

Once the assets have been favorited, they will show as a selectable item when opening a ticket.

Note: the room assignment will need to be added to the asset prior to the users favoriting the assets.

Ok I see, however, is there a way I can do this globally for them? Probably not for it defeats user customizability. We, unfortunately, have to try and make the helpdesk ticket as simple and user friendly as possible or they stop using it. Helpdesk is not a regular occurance for them so they won’t remember how to filter and sort.

DJenkins,

You are correct, there is not a way to do this globally. I understand the need for simplicity so users do not stop using IIQ. I have found an idea exchange that requesting something similar to what you are needing. Check it out and upvote the idea.
