We are hoping to streamline things for our teachers when making new tickets by having all the equipment in their room show up in the My Favorites / Assets: section when creating a new ticket. Before we got too crazy I wanted to test this with myself and someone can let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

  1. I created the Model of projector we use and chose the asset type as facilities so it would not ask for an owner, just a location.
  2. I created a new asset and selected the model I just made, and chose GHS Room 101 as the location for the device.
  3. I assigned my room as GHS Room 101.
  4. I created a new ticket and the only thing that shows up under My Assets is my Surface.
  5. I created a new asset for GIS Room 102 and assigned it to that room, I then had the teacher in that classroom create a new ticket, and still nothing shows up under the My Assets section.

Am I missing something? Or is what we want not possible?

Do you have MyClasses enabled? If the teacher is assigned to the room via SIS, the assets in that room should pop up, as well as the student devices.

Additionally, a user can favorite the devices that will be in their room. Here is an idea to upvote about creating a rule to apply favorite (devices to be placed within the room show up automatically as a favorite for those users) :

The teacher can also add those assets to their quick ticket dashboard!

What do you mean by “myclasses”? We do not have SiS integration ourselves but he posed something we really want as well and I would think that even if someone were manually assigned a room it would work the same. In a previous request awhile back, I believe we were told it was something that adding would be looked into. Is it now somehow possible? Can it be done without SIS?

Yes we have MyClasses enabled. I verified that the teacher is assigned to GIS Room 102 and that the Projector is also. I had the teacher sign in and I looked around for awhile and discovered that if they click on My Assets they can see the equipment we assigned to the room, but not when making a ticket.

Is there a way or rule we can make that any asset linked to the classroom shows up under My Assets / Favorites when making a ticket?

Our staff will not know to go to My Assets first. Or is there a way for us to favorite assets for teachers on their behalf without signing in as them?

The MyClasses feature enables teachers to access their class roster and utilize various functions such as submitting a ticket based on the class roster, checking in and out devices, as well as verifying devices.

When submitting a ticket, this section will only display assets that are specifically assigned to the user or that the user has “favorited.”

Teachers are able to see all assets assigned to their assigned room under My Assets. From this page, we have always suggested getting the teachers to “Favorite” those assets. This way they will show up in the section when submitting a ticket.

I've noticed that when a user favorites an asset categorized under "facilities equipment," it doesn't show up in that section when submitting a ticket. It seems to be because that asset is classified under the asset type "facilities equipment." I've contacted other departments to confirm if this is the expected behavior.

Currently you are unable to favorite those devices on behalf of users.  But here is an idea that you can comment and upvote regarding showing all assets assigned to the room.

I have seen other districts use the Announcement App to provide instructions for teachers once they are logged into iiQ, guiding them through the process of favoriting their devices.

@Hannah Bailey Thank you for the very detailed reply. It is quite unfortunate that classroom assets don’t appear in the linked My Assets section when creating a new ticket, but using the announcement workaround may suffice for now. I did upvote the feature request and hope it comes soon!

However… we have only added the classroom assets for our High School Staff. Is there a way to limit just the GHS staff seeing the announcement or will the whole district see it?

@ZGarber 4208988 glshelp Hate to say it, but limiting the Announcement app by users/role is another idea exchange request:
