When assigning a ticket it now shows users instead of agents. We don’t assign tickets to our students yet we have all the students in our district in as users. Could it be changed back to Agents?

The thought behind the select user is that the agent role is not the user's only role who can be assigned a ticket (perhaps a staff/faculty role who is a principal.)
You can still filter by role and search.
I agree adding an “assign to agent” would still be beneficial for your workflows so here is the idea thread for you to share to your thoughts:
