Check In/Out User Rights

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

What user settings would allow a user to check items in and out of spare pools?

Best answer by Kathryn Carter

@erich.geiger Here is an updated screenshot of the permission that works with Roll Out Scout:

Our team updated the names of the permissions (still under general / app specific) so I am updating that documentation now 😄

@erich.geiger Thank you for submitting your question!

The setting is in permissions, under “app specific”. You can set it for on or off depending on the role you are adjusting. I have attached the guide for you. I hope this helps 😄

Thank you for the response. I edited permissions for one of my users and enabled the Issue Spares option but When I log in as her I do not see the Check In / Check Out option on the left. Am I looking in the wrong place?

@erich.geiger The person who’s permissions you are adjusting, what is the current role they are assigned? I can do some more digging.

Currently her role is simply defined as “Staff”

@erich.geiger Okay, I did some more digging and the person would need to have agent permissions to access this.

I am attaching an idea that does exactly what you are asking, please go vote and comment!

@erich.geiger
Are asking to check in and out spare devices to users? Or to move devices in and out of spare pools?

I want this staff member to be able to check items in and out. She does not need to move inventory into or out of spare pools.

@erich.geiger Does she have the ability to check in and out devices? If she checks out the loaner device, it removes it from the pool and when you check it back in, it puts it back in the pool. Do you think that would work for y’all?

That’s what I’m referring to. When she logs in she does not have the “Check In/Out” option listed on the left even though I have enabled that option for her on her user permissions. She only sees what is shown the image below

Ok, I see what you are talking about now. The issue here is that I want this staff member to be able to check out devices for anyone. This method has her go through her classes to pick a student and assign a loaner. I want her to be able to issue loaners to any user, I.E. students and staff members. I was hoping she could get the same Check In/Out page that I have listed under assets as pictured here. Is that not possible without changing her roles?

@erich.geiger She can check out/check in 1 device using Roll Out Scout. This is going to be the only way to change this while she stays in the staff role.

To get the exact screenshot you are looking for, she would need to sit in a different role.

Ok, what role would she need for that? Can I create a role that only adds these permissions on top of those of a regular staff role?

@erich.geiger For the screenshot you provided, she would need to be an agent. However, you can adjust her permissions so she has limited access. Double check to make sure she has the check in/check out permission (look under assets) for her location.

If you are okay with the batch check in/out (different screen), follow the article I have linked above for reference as to her ability to check devices in and out.

Thank you, Agent seems to be what I was looking for. It would be great to be able to give her access to that tool without all the other stuff but this will work for now.

Thanks again!

@erich.geiger Glad we landed on a solution that will work for now.

I want to link this idea again for you. This idea is what you are asking for with less heavy lifting on your end. Please go vote and comment!

Hi Kathryn,

I finally got a chance to circle back to this and when trying to enable rollout for users I’m unable to find it in the permissions list. Is there somewhere else where I need to enable to in order for it to show up as an option in user permissions?

Thanks,

Kathryn Carter
