Add data to Custom Fields with Rules Engine

Is there a way in the rules engine to add data to a custom field (assets) on device update/checkout? I did not see anything in the rules engine. We are trying to add a checkout date to a custom field so we can sort/report on it.

There’s not currently. Someone has posted this idea before though, and it would be great to have.
