I would really appreciate a feature where you could check a box perhaps on the check in/out screen and see a the full history of devices checked in/out for the day. As it is, as soon as you navigate away from the check in/out page, the history erases and you can’t see prior check outs for the day. Even a report option where you can see check outs for a given day would be helpful as well.

What about saving an asset filter view with the following options? This gave me the 20 Chromebooks at this school, currently checked out to students, which have had a status change in the given date range.
If you wanted to see devices that were checked in you could add a filter for Asset Status In Storage, set the date range to Today, and remove the Role filter and this should give you the list you’re looking for.
