I am trying to import meta information for a bunch of phones all at once. I plan to use an asset import to get all of the phones into IIQ Assets; however, I am looking for a quick way to get each phone’s extension also added to each asset. Thoughts?

Hi @DKRUPPENBACHER ! You can use bulk actions and utilize ‘set info’. This allows you update and make changes to a assets in bulk.

Please keep in mind, the standard fields you see at the top after you hit ‘select info’ are out of the box. If you want to populate info into a custom field you have created in iiQ, you will need to scroll down and you will see ‘Custom’. (this is from my test site)

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @Melissa_iiQ, thanks for the quick response! Would this bulk action allow me to feed in a list of extensions? I would need to map an extension to an asset tag.

@DKRUPPENBACHER You could also create your custom field and tie that to a specific model category or even specific models of assets and then import into that custom field!

First, create your custom field and then apply it to the assets (you’ll see that I associated my custom field with any model category that was phone related):

When you import have a column labeled ‘Extension’ with each extension associated with the corresponding asset tag or serial number.

Once your import is completed the information will be listed in the meta information for each asset:

While I love the ‘Set Info’ option, since each one of these is going to be unique, I think the import option will help you save some time. Hope this helps!
