I am trying to create a rule using the new work order parts request process where if the ticket is a parts request and the resolution action used is ‘supplies ready for pickup’ that the parts associated with the work order parts request are deducted from the current inventory of parts. The only option I see in the rules engine is to specifically tie a certain part to the rule. Is there a way to reference the part type and quantity already attached to the work order?

@MLloyd 4675b73 hbschools Thank you for submitting your question to our community! 😄

I love that you are already exploring our new features. I reached out to our team to confirm and you would have to create a rule for each part. However, the suggested best practice would be to have the warehouse team sign off on the request, and then the facilities tech adds the part to the work order after. I hope this helps!

@Kathryn Carter

The situation is that one building’s head custodian; lets call it building A manages and warehouses the consumable supplies for the whole district (paper goods, garbage bags, etc.) due to available space. We’ve begun to use parts inventory to keep track of these consumables to have an idea about when they are running low and might need to be reordered.

When the head custodian from building B makes a request for the supplies building A gives it to them and updates the inventory.

My hope with the new process was for building B to make a supply request via a ticket that is assigned to building A. When building A fulfills the request rather than having to close two tickets: a main ticket, sub ticket and manually update the parts inventory; they could close the ticket which based on the ticket action, parts requested and quantity would update inventory automatically.

@MLloyd 4675b73 hbschools Thank you for your patience as I was working with our Product Team to get your feedback to the proper people. As of right now, you will have to close the two tickets and adjust the inventory but this is a great start to moving additional resources across all modules! I have passed along your use case to our Product team. 😄
