Various departments already have documents we’d like to put on our KB. The documents are in pdf/word/excel format. Is there an easy way to import the documents to be used as a KB article?

There are a few ways you can add these documents, the first is via attachment.
Another way is to add it as an external link and if the link isn’t supported, you can always have it open a new window:
