I’m coming to my genius club to ask if anyone can think of a creative way to do something in Events. Anyone have a workaround that would allow us to write a rule that updates the event request ticket when the event location is updated?
Specific Use Case: We use a generic “ghost” location for some event requests. For instance, district staff who host summer events place the event request as in a fake location/room (Z_District Requests for Campus Space/HS Space Needed), we then assign a space and update the event, then send the ticket to campus approval by location in a two-step approval process (principal then campus team).
I’m using a shortcut to send it to principal approval by location, then I have a tickets/when approved rule that will send to the campus team by location.
Here’s the catch. When I update the event location, the event request ticket location is still Z_District Requests for campus space. So I have to change it in both locations.
It’s a mistake/misfire waiting to happen, so I’d love to work the edit in event location back to the event request ticket. The event “when updated” rules are very limited.
Second but related problem: When the event location changes, the tickets that are launched for event support do not update their location either. We have a view for these agents that shows the location in a column (ticket location, not event location as you cannot display event location as a column in facilities or ticketing). So any time we change an event location, we have to remember to go into the support tickets individually and change them.
Thanks for any ideas you have!
