Hi, everyone.

My question

Is there a way to unassign a device using a shortcut? My school has an insurance program that can be bought by the student or parents to be protected in case a chromebook gets damaged, but when the chromebook gets damaged and it doesn't have insurance, the user has to be removed. I have made a shortcut to automatically create the actions that have been taken with the chromebook. One of the actions is to unassign the owner, and I would like to include that action into my shortcut, but I haven't found an action that allows me to do that.

Thank you very much… JV

You might be able to get that done via a rule instead. One way would be to set a device status in iiQ. Then, in the rules engine, set up a rule to unassign the owner once a device has that status.

In your shortcut, you’d include the action of Set Asset Status.

I have a custom iiQ status called Deprovisioned that’s setup. When a Chromebook switches to that status, iiQ will unassign the owner.

I don’t believe that you will not be able to unassign the owner within a ticket shortcut because the device is tied to the owner who is tied to the ticket. I totally see the workflow! I like @AMeyer Greendale Schools suggestion!
