Georgia SB 369 – Parts, Repair Costs, and Break/Fix Reporting
Our district is preparing for SB 369 technology reporting requirements (O.C.G.A. § 20-2-1018). Starting in 2027. This new law covers educational technology over $100, including computers, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and related hardware/software. Georgia school systems must report the following information for the previous school year:
• Total technology devices in operation
• Break/fix rate (Need Help with this)
• Devices requiring repair
• Devices repaired or left out of service
• Total repair/replacement costs (How do i get info for items repaired multiple times)
I'm working with my IIQ CSM but also seeking input from the community. The biggest hurdle will be determining the Break/fix rate for any device needing repair before the manufacturer’s lifecycle ends due to damage or failure not covered by insurance.
We’re looking for the best way to configure Incident IQ to enter and export the required data for an annual report. Has anyone created a similar report, or know which categories to select? Can i even pull all of this data into one report?
• School
• Asset tag and serial number
• Device type, manufacturer, and model
• Original purchase cost
• Manufacturer lifecycle/end date
• Repair date (What category to i select?)
• Physical damage, hardware failure, or other breakage (How do I add this info to the report?)
• Warranty, insurance, or protection-plan coverage
• Parts used and quantity (What category to i select?)
• Unit cost at the time of repair
• Outside repair cost (Not sure how to determine the cost?)
• Replacement cost
• Repaired, replaced, returned to service, or left out of service
• Total repair cost (How do I add and determine this info on the report?)
Any feedback from Georgia districts that are preparing for SB 369 would be helpful.
