My Google Device general settings that set asset status are:

I have a rule when a device has a ticket submitted for a ‘broken’ issue, the device status is changed to ‘Broken’. However, the day after, the device status is changed back to ‘In Service’. Google Devices is doing it:

I want device data from Google to sync to IIQ when there are changes such as an OU move, a new user, last login date, last sync, etc. That is why I selected the ‘Update Asset” checkbox. Will unchecking that box prevent those data elements from syncing to IIQ?

Obviously, it’s one of the ‘update’ checkboxes overwriting the device status, but I’m not sure which one.

I’ve always been confused around the ‘Update status with every sync’ checkbox. Can anyone explain this option? Updating data with every sync is what it should be doing. What happens when this is unchecked?

Hey @bbeaudette So yes, you are right, if you uncheck that  “update asset” box, then no updates will take place to that asset. The “update status with every sync box, not just changes”, means that it will just update every sync regardless when changes are made, but if changes are made, then it will still update with every sync.

Hi @bbeaudette! Thank you for submitting this question as it can be confusing!

My recommendation would be to have the settings outlined below: Update Asset Checked, Set Asset Status blank and Update status with every sync Unchecked.

Because the current setting as shown in your original screenshot is telling it to update the status to “In Service”, it will always change your asset statuses back to In Service regardless of what you have it set to in iiQ. Leaving the “Set asset status:” box blank will allow the asset to be updated based off the Google data without updating the status. Additionally, having the update status with every sync even if there were no changes was also changing the status of your devices to In Service. Updating your settings to mirror the screenshot above should eliminate the back and forth asset status changes you are experiencing.

Thank you!
