Is there a way to remove tickets from a user view from the previous school year? I’m guessing I can make a rule that will do this but wondering if there is another way. Or, do I need to create a saved view that will remove them from being visible?

You can absolutely use Ticket Views to implement this workflow.
The best way to accomplish this currently would be to use Date range filters. When creating/ editing your View settings, you can select any filter from the “Date” filters and from there select “Moving Date Ranges” in the top-right corner or “Specific Date Ranges” of the View Setting wizard depending on your district’s needs.
To accomplish the requested workflow, I’d recommend using “Created Date” filters with the following specification: Specific Date Range (defining the previous calendar school year) and excluding those dates.
