Assets

I am not able to scan multiple devices using Rapid Scan.  The first device scans successfully but additional scanned devices do not create an asset list as shown in the video. There is no error message the scan is just ignored.  Is there a specific setting for barcode scanners?

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone had a way either through a rule or possibly a feature enhancement that I can unlink an asset when it is assigned to a student. We use device lockers in our buildings as swap devices when a student breaks a device. We assign that device to the student and refill the lockers on the back end. Currently we link the computers to the locker so that we can see at any one point what is in the lockers. The problem is right now we have to manually unlink the asset when we assign it or it does not show that it has left the locker. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

HI, I am wondering if there is a way to look at previous tickets for a certain asset? I have been digging around and have yet to find out if that is an option. Does anyone know if that is a thing or if it will be? I am needing to pull a report of all tickets created for a couple assets.   

Here is my issue, we have multiple sites and bring back old retired or damaged devices and then send them to the recycler. When I mark the chromebooks as disposed after google sync it changes their status back to deprovisioned and assigns it back to the last student that used it (as long as their account is active) as well as the original device. I think I figured out the deprovision issue but cant seem to find out how to stop the assigning on retired devices and moving back to the original site. Any thoughts or suggestions would be awesome.

I was reading up on using spare pools and saw something about allowing other users to issue a spare from the spare pool. I went in to the spare pool but could not find these permissions. Also, can a specified user add the spare before the ticket is submitted? When a student comes in with a broken Chromebook, right now we are writing it in the comments and I add it later. This takes time and manging the spares a bit more difficult. Another questions is can we issue a spare to a student for the day? Like if a student forgot their Chromebook and need a spare for the day. Can I assign a specific user to issue a spare for the day?Thanks.

We created a custom field to document repair notes and so that they appear right at the top of the asset page when it’s loaded. However, when I try to import into that field this is the error I receive during import.  It keeps skipping the entry and I’m not able to import but I’m not sure why I cannot just overwrite the existing data? Is it related to my custom field? There’s just no message to help me understand what’s the issue. Thank you!

We are interested in printing a barcode label with the student’s name and ID barcode associated with the device they have checked out.  In order to protect their ID number we would like to show the barcode, but hide the actual number that is associated with the barcode.  I couldn’t find a way to hide it.  Anyone know of a way?

Am I the only one that can’t get rapid scan to work via the website? I’m using a barcode scanner and Google Chrome (beta). This just doesn’t work:  

Is there a way to leave a students name on a device when doing an exchange?  Just need the easiest way of seeing whose device it was because once you do an exchange it removes the device from the student which is great but need to do some other processes after that and it would be helpful to still have their name attached.

I am unable to create a ‘Device\Monitor’ asset. I get this error: “The model category cannot be a top level category, it must best nested beneath a top level category”. How can I create a child category within ‘Monitor’?Thanks!

Is it possible to create a view/report of all assets that are linked to tickets?

Does anyone have any experience with Device verification prompts within IQ?My goal is to verify devices my students are currently using, and have IQ update the owner to the current user. I would like to have a notification or something pop up that they can click to verify. Is this possible?

We created a custom meta data text field. We would like to be able to search by said field. Right now when we do a smart search it does not find or scan this field. It is a text field. If we can’t search for this field then there is no reason to import the information. I hope you can point me in the right direction.  Thanks.

We are trying to check out Chrome Books to students. The pop box that we put in a student’s ID is taking a very long time to come up! Help

Has anyone figured out how to show users with assets but exclude asset statuses? I am currently trying to show all users with multiple devices but exclude devices with the status of missing. I like the way the devices combine in the user explore view. The issue is you cannot combine asset statuses with users. If I try to do this on the asset explore side I cannot sort by multiple devices.

Since data is exported from views into Excel format only, is it possible to add that format the Forms accetable attachment format?  Or allow export of data from views into pdf or doc format?

Does anyone have much experience using Automatic Verification.  I would so like to use this to do inventory this year but it seems to have what I would consider a strange behavior.  If I set the automatic verification to 15 days it verifies the chromebooks that are assigned as long as that user has logged on...this is great.  However, it also verifies chromebooks that are not assigned as long as no one has logged into them.  That is not going to work for me because when we do inventory the point is to know where each device is.  If a chromebook is not assigned to anyone, I would like my techs to find it and verify it manually. Any thoughts or experience?Thanks,GlendaHEBISD

I am not sure if this idea is a good one but I figured it would be a good discussion. Every time I do a bulk change for multiple assets I only have on dropdown window to choose between all of the different fields we have available to change. My question is, would it be better to have check boxes of all available fields to choose from instead of one dropdown window? In my opinion this would make it far faster to choose the options to change. I look forward to hearing other thoughts on this.Thanks.

Hello, new to the community and new to iiQ. My question is: we have iPads and Apple Pencils that we give to teachers. The pencil stays in a special cutout in the case so it always travels with the iPad. Is it a good idea to link assets - the iPad and pencil? We do have occasions where we may have to swap out the iPad or pencil for a defect and will linking them cause any problems with that?

Is it possible to assign an asset to a “guest” user in IIQ or does the person I check out a device to have to have a defined user type (e.g.staff, student)?

We added BrainPop as a Model for tickets and issues, and the corresponding KB Articles imported.   We don’t want all the default KB articles visible to anyone, they don’t apply but we can keep some of them.  Is there a way to turn off/on a single imported KB article or should we just remove the BrainPop Model from our catalog and add it back as a custom model?

Our check-our process may be different than others, I don’t know.For various reasons, our students keep the same chromebook year over year.  We have found that the most efficient method of checking out chromebooks each year is to call the students down to the cafeteria by grade level, and then calling them up by name as we come to their chromebook in the stack.  For this to work, we have to know which student the chromebook belongs to before we call the student forward.In years passed, we have placed a physical label with the student’s name on each chromebook and case in order to make this work.  This is very cumbersome, and prone to error.  Because IIQ allows us to check in devices while leaving them assigned to the user, we felt this was an idea solution to our organizational problems at the beginning of the year.The problem we are running into as we try things out is that the Batch Check-Out requires that we scan the Student first, then scan a device t
