I've been reflecting on our maintenance and repair processes for our 1:1 Chromebooks, and I'm looking for ways to optimize our device management. Specifically, I'd like to create a view to track the top-repaired devices by model to identify those that require frequent maintenance and consider removing them from circulation.I've noticed that some devices have accumulated a substantial amount of repair costs, exceeding the original device cost. For instance, I've seen devices with $300 in repairs, yet the original device only cost $274. I'm concerned about the potential wasted resources and would like to explore strategies to better manage our device inventory.What approaches or tools do you use to track and manage your device maintenance and repair costs? Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated. 

Is there a way to change an asset’s storage location without having to go to the asset and editing it?I have multiple devices whose storage locations need to be changed.

I want to map the serial number in IIQ to the serial number in google but all i see is in the picture below. There doesn’t seem to be a drop for serial number for the google device drop down. Its like the serial number section for the google devices has been skipped. Is this an error on our end or ? 

Good afternoon, I have been importing Chromebooks with their serial numbers and asset tags into IQ.   I want the Asset Tag to flow from IQ to Google Admin console.    So far it only appears that IQ will update the serial number and the only Asset ID information that will sync to google is the Annotations Asset IT, which I can’t import anything into using the import utility.   Has anyone else ran across this?

Currently, we assign each asset to a user and then indicate what room that user is located in within a building.I am not impressed with this option because each year we have tons of users move from room to room, but the asset stays in the room.  That being said, each year, I have to go in and unassign at least 5 assets from each user that moves a room, assign them to a new user, and so on and so forth for each user.This can be overwhelmingly time consuming.I do count on searching by user on a regular basis to find the assets assigned to them so I can remotely log in to devices.  Our users can not find an asset tag or computer name 90% of the time, so this is a huge life saver for us.I saw some community members discuss My Classes, but I’m not sure that would work for us either.  Pros/Cons/Thoughts on the potential processes we could use.  Currently, we are going to be starting at ground zero with assets and reuploading everything, so that is

So we have 2 sets of 30 iPads.   They are in Shared iPad mode, and are not owned by anyone.   I have some various asset views that are looking for devices without an owner, because I would ultimately like for *most* things to either have an owner assigned, or to be somehow configured as a fixed “room asset” How would you configure these things so that they don’t show up in some of those Asset Views that I have.  As an FYI, we have JAMF School, and have done the integration into iIQ as well.   Thanks in advance. 

How can I pull an inventory report for assets by classroom?

I am still learning how to use IIQ, how to I fail a device that is showing “At Risk” once I complete my inventory. My devices are either discarded or missing. Thanks for the help.

After the improved permissions were implemented I noticed I lost the Models button under admin. I went into permissions and noticed my user account lost most of the permissions. I clicked select all and applied that. It did fix the missing Model button. I am posting this here as I know of a few others with the same issue. 

Last week we were adding new models in via the models tab under administration.  Today, when we logged in there is no longer a models tab under administration.  When I look at the policies, it shows we have rights, but it isn’t there.  Did the ability to add new models change or move?

When importing assets via csv, what data is the best thing to put into the owner field? Name? Email? Some ID number that’s IIQ specific?

We have configured our chrome devices to follow the student for 7-12. They move schools (within in the district, the chromebook moves to the new OU.We have an OU for our specific devices that should never move no matter which student or staff is signed in.  How do we exclude the OU?

We have our senior chromebook collection day coming up and just wanted to know what would be the difference between using the Check in/out versus the Batch check in/out.  We don’t need any rules to fire off when checking them in just having the ownership set to unassigned which I know both options do.  Thank you.

     Hello and thanks for having me as part of the community. We purchased two very specific printers for the art department and when I go to add a new asset, the specific model does not come up as an option in the drop-down menu. The printers are HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dn and I see hundreds of options but not that one. For the time being, I just chose a model that looked somewhat similar and created the asset, but I was hoping to be able to map it specifically to the correct make/model if possible.      I apologize if this is a “newb” question, but this is my first full year(school season here ends in a few weeks) working in a school district environment, thus my first year of  engaging/interacting with iiQ. Also, for additional reference, I created a support ticket but the response was just a link to an article for uploading large CSV files, whereas, I literally just need to do these two printers, as the rest of the district uses other models.     Th

What is the best way to room audit in the summer? Ideally, we’d be able to “go into a room” to see all devices that are assigned in that room. I see there’s some ideas floating out here to click on a map and see nested assets within a room. We’ve created views before, but that gets extremely messy.Is there an ideal workflow currently, or just scanning?  

IIQ seems to randomly deprovision devices in Google which deletes them in IIQ but they are still valid.  Has anyone else experienced this?

I need to add labels to several new Chromebooks. Can I print multiple labels at once?

Is there a way in IIQ to set due dates for assets, automatic fines for overdue tech, etc?We are looking to switch over to IIQ this summer for asset management and circulation. The problem is that I don’t see a way to add a due date for an asset when it’s checked out.For example, we have laptops and chargers to check out for the day when a student forgets theirs, and currently that item will be automatically marked overdue if not returned at the end of the day and a fine will be applied. Another example is class-specific technology, like iPads and Apple Pencils for art classes, which are checked out to the student and then due at the end of the semester when the class is done. Can this be set up in IIQ? 

How long is asset timeline history retained? Is it Indefinitely?  Are there ways to adjust this? (1 year, 2 years, etc..)

Is there a way to remove the ‘Reason’ for deprovisioning a device.  We will be deprovisioning the devices for graduating seniors who want to keep their Chromebooks and would like to skip a couple clicks if we can.

We have “returns specialists” that help with Student asset returns.They are not Agents, and we do not want them to see anything other than the Student assets.How is this accomplished?

We are looking at the bulk check in and the documentation says that the add fee option must be enabled. Where can I find instructions on how to enable that feature?  I know it must be done by the district admin. I can forward this to him. Thanks

We have had some issues with chromebooks not pulling the latest update via Google Admin Console.  This has caused some issues with some applicationsand testing applications.  I went to try and create an asset view to and add the “OS Version” as a column and found that it is not there.  Is this not an option via IIQ?  I want to confirm with others before making a request to add this as an “Idea”. Our example is that a 4th grade teacher has stated that some students are able to get to a certain program via their chromebook.  Of course I did not receive names so I wanted to see what OS versions are on all 4th grade chromebooks.  I am not seeing this as a field under the applications section.
